port a game
Port your game to Steam, itch.io, and the desktop
Rebuild a game you own in Summer Engine, then export it where people actually play. Desktop builds for Windows and macOS today, ready for Steam and itch.io.
Porting is usually sold as a miracle converter. That is not how it works. If you own the source, the art, and the design, you can rebuild the game in a modern engine and ship it on Steam, itch.io, or another desktop store, with mobile builds possible through each platform's toolchain. Summer Engine is built for that rebuild. Describe the game, generate the scenes and scripts, then keep editing locally in C++, GDScript, or C#.
This resource hub is for people searching how to port a 3DS game to Steam, how to bring a DS or Wii title to PC, how to move a Unity or Unreal project, or how to take an old mobile game to a store that still pays. Each long-tail page below is written for one search, not a cloned template.
Summer Engine follows Godot upstream and is compatible with Godot 4 workflows, but it is a fully custom engine with more than a million lines of custom code. You own the project. There are no royalties. Export is part of the engine, not a locked web demo.
What porting means here
A port in this cluster means rebuilding a game you have the rights to, then shipping that rebuild on a new platform. It is not a ROM dumper, a pirate patch, or a one-click converter for someone else's cartridge. Bring your design, your assets, and any source you still have. Summer Engine helps you reconstruct playable scenes, rewrite the feel in plain language, and export a real project.
Handheld and console games people want on Steam
The searches that keep coming back are specific: port a 3DS game to Steam, port a Nintendo DS game to iOS, port a Wii or GameCube game to PC, bring a PSP or PS Vita title forward. Those pages live under this hub because the work is the same shape. You reconstruct the camera, the input, the resolution, and the store requirements for the new platform instead of stretching an emulator screenshot.
Engine to engine, then out to stores
A lot of ports start in another tool. Unity to Steam, Unreal to iOS, Godot to Android, GameMaker or RPG Maker to a store page, Flash to Steam. Summer Engine can take that intent and produce a standard project you can keep editing. Games are written in C++ and GDScript, and C# is available in the desktop editor.
One project, the platforms you can launch today
Desktop export is the supported release path today. Summer builds for Windows and macOS, which covers Steam and itch.io, the everyday targets for a port. iOS and Android builds need that platform's toolchain and signing (the Android SDK and a keystore, or a Mac with Xcode for iOS) and a pass on touch input. A GDScript project also exports a web build that you publish on Summer Games, where people play it in the browser. C# projects cannot export to the web. Console versions need platform holder approval and certification, and are usually handled with a licensed porting partner.
Start with the search you actually typed
If you came here from "port my 3DS game to Steam" or "port a Unity game to iOS", open that page. The hub is the map. The child pages carry the keyword, the platform constraints, and the FAQ for that job. When you are ready to build, download Summer Engine and rebuild the game locally.
Frequently asked questions
Can I port a 3DS, DS, or Wii game to Steam with Summer Engine?
Yes, if you own the game you are rebuilding. Describe the original camera, controls, and structure, generate a playable project, then export a desktop build for Steam. We do not convert dumped ROMs or other people's cartridges.
Which platforms can a ported game launch on?
Desktop first. Summer exports Windows and macOS builds for Steam and itch.io, and mobile builds need each platform's toolchain and signing. A GDScript project also exports a web build for Summer Games, and console versions need platform holder approval, usually through a licensed porting partner.
Do I need to recode the whole game by hand?
No. You can draft scenes and systems in plain English, then keep editing the real project. Games in Summer are written in C++ and GDScript. C# is available in the desktop editor.
Is Summer Engine just Godot with a new name?
No. We always follow Godot upstream, and the workflows stay compatible with Godot 4. Summer is a fully custom engine with more than a million lines of custom code.
Can I port a Unity, Unreal, or Godot game here?
Yes. Those are rebuilds, not magical project importers. You bring the design and assets you own, reconstruct the game in Summer Engine, and export to the store you care about.
Is this legal? Can I port a commercial 3DS cartridge I bought?
Owning a cartridge is not the same as owning the rights to rebuild and resell that game. Only port a game you created or a game you have a clear license to remake. This hub will not help rip, dump, or redistribute someone else's ROM.
